About Nick
Hi,
If you haven't guessed already from the rest of the site ... I'm Nick Truch.
Welcome to my film music site.
I've always been really passionate about film and music, especially when the two are put together to good effect. If I'm not in my studio, I'll be at the cinema getting inspired with a bag of popcorn.
Being a visual and kinaesthetic person I find the mix of working with visuals and music really exciting. Especially nowadays where the technology exists to enable me to work closely with film director's or production team members from the heart of my studio where we can marry up everyone's creative efforts into one powerful audio visual experience.
I have several pen names that I use to release music under different genres, these include:
I find living in the Lake District is an ideal base to compose from. With the endless amounts of inspiration from the different landscape extremes and seasonal changes it has created a perfect environment for composition and recreation of those soundscapes. Here is a view of my studio location.
Over the years I have developed a number of workflows and methods to support my music composition process and development of musical expressions. Keeping up to speed with the latest developments in the music technology areas has turned into a hobby of mine and has made a big difference to my musical arsenal and capabilities.
My workflow process and methods have been greatly influenced by my professional background in marketing communications. Whenever I talk to film directors I'm always asking what their story is and what their visions and messages to the audience are for the overall film and for particular sequences or scenes.
As a music composer I need to think about the musical storyboard as much as the director's storyboard. I believe it is then my job to break that storyboard and vision down into musical expressions and to provide the musical framework and tools that the director and production team need to flexibly and efficiently add that musical dimension to their visuals.
This is absolutely what I love to do!
I'm always interested in what other people think from their experiences so please drop me a line with any comments or feedback you may have.
And of course if you a have a story that needs telling, and might need some music to help tell it, feel free to call me for some ideas and inspiration.
Your Creatively,
Nick Truch
